                                                         The CBC Way

Carl's Baseball Confederacy was born in the spring of 1992 at Carl's Tavern in Des Moines, Iowa. Fathers of the CBC were Scott Henderson, Wally Kirch, Silas Lee, Raul Owen, Tim Pelican, Skip Petts, Ron Steeples, Peeeedro Steeples, and Slake West. The CBC was founded in the spirit of tough competition and good sportsmanship. There were and are no cash prizes awarded. We do this for love of the game.

Carl's Baseball Confederacy is a hitting only fantasy league. We don't need no stinking pitchers around here. We are a head-to-head league. We are split into 2 divisions, Scotch and Bourbon, with 5 teams in each division. We play a split schedule, with a 1st half-season and a 2nd half season.

Post-season play consists first of Divisional Playoffs, with the 1st half winners facing the 2nd half winners for their respective division titles. If one team wins both half-seasons, they would face the team with the 2nd best overall combined-half record in their division. The two division playoff winners then face each other in the CBC Championship Series for the CBC title.

Each team has an active roster (20 players maximum, no limit on how many players at any position), a disabled list (5 players max, players on the MLB DL eligible), and a farm team (5 players max, any player not on an MLB roster eligible).

Game day lineups include 9 players, one for each position (except pitcher) and a designated hitter. Any player may be used at DH. To qualify for an infield or corner outfield spot, a player have appeared at the desired position in at least 1/3 of his MLB games played up to that point in the season, or at least 1/3 of his games played the previous week.  To qualify for centerfield, a player have appeared there in at least 1/2 of his MLB games played up to that point in the season, or at least 1/2 of his games played the previous week. Any outfielder, including centerfielders, may play either corner outfield position.

CBC scoring rules:

One point for a hit

One point for each base reached on a hit

One point for each hit-by-pitch, sacrifice bunt, or sacrifice fly

Two points for each walk or stolen base

Three points for each run scored or each RBI
